In February I saw a sign on the bulletin board about tryouts for a play to be produced in May by the Harvard Dudley House Drama group. The play is “Sweet Bird of Youth” by Tennessee Williams. It was performed on stage and made into a movie with Geraldine Page and Paul Newman in the starring roles. Well, that sounded like fun so I went to the tryouts, and I got the part of Aunt Nonnie. It’s a perfect part for me as Aunt Nonnie is a middle-aged woman who avoids confrontations. It's a sizeable part, but not too much; just enough I can memorize it all. Rehearsals are hard work, but
I' ve met a lot of interesting people.

Most of the actors are from the various graduate schools ミ the Kennedy School of Government, the Law School, and the Business School. The undergraduate student who plays the male lead told us he plans to go to Hollywood to try to make his way as an actor after graduation, following in the footsteps of a famous former Harvard student, Matt Damon. Of all these people I am the only one making my stage debut. I hope you'
ll wish me luck and to do that you must say, “ Break a leg ! ” If you don' t believe me, look it up in your dictionary.
